Chairs

Most
people who work in an office find that they spend the majority of their
days in an office chair. There are many different types of office
chairs available on the office furniture market that can range from very
affordable to quite expensive. Many times the relatively inexpensive office
chairs can cause discomfort or problems associated with back pain and
even some of the more expensive chairs aren’t designed any better.
The more expensive office chairs are only more expensive because they
are made from more expensive materials, not necessarily because they have
a more comfortable design. The need for more comfortable office chairs
has led to a good deal of research and eventually the design of something
called an ergonomic office chair.
Ergonomics
is a term that is being used more and more often in the design of all
types of furniture. An ergonomic office chair is a chair that should be
able to adjust to each individual’s needs for comfort
and in their ability to perform. An essential part of a good ergonomic
office chair is the ability for the user to be able to adjust the chair
with easy to use controls in order to find the perfect seating position.
Most people who use ergonomic office chairs claim to have experienced
a lessening in the common aches and pains that are associated with common
office chairs including neck pain, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and
other related problems. Ergonomic office chairs are made in a variety
of designs and colors to suit any type of office environment.
A
number of features can be recognized on a good ergonomic office chair
when shopping around for the best design and price. The backrest of any
ergonomic office chair should be designed to offer comfort and
support to the back that will be resting in the chair. If possible,
when selecting an ergonomic office chair for a particular person it is
a good idea to have that person sit in several chairs to find the best
fit for the curve of his or her back. An ergonomic office chair should
allow the user to be able to adjust the height of the backrest to accommodate
the changing needs of an individual as well as other individuals who may
need to use the chair.
An
ergonomic office chair should be designed with a firm yet comfortable
seat that can evenly support a person’s weight
as well as accommodate each individual’s form. The seat of an ergonomic
office chair should be sloped downward in the front to offer the user
a gentle and not abrupt curving of the legs. This curve will not cause
a harsh edge and promote healthy circulation in the lower limbs. Other
features that should be included on well-designed ergonomic office chair
include comfortable armrests that can be adjusted for
different users, height adjustment and pivoting rollers on the base of
the chair for easy moving.
An
ergonomic office chair is a good investment for any type of office
environment. It has been proven that workers who are more comfortable
and don’t have to suffer from common aches and pains caused by regular
office chairs are often more productive when they sit
in an ergonomic office chair.
